Obesity paranoia

I'd be blunt to use the word obese so pardon me; however, nowadays most of us got this "obesity paranoia." If we look around starting from pre-schoolers to teenagers, young adults, middle-age and the baby boomers, we are seeing a pattern.... weight gain.  Now, the question is Why?  Is it lifestyle, is it diet, is it trend, is it environment or is it a state of mind?

First let us define what is obesity.  It means that "you are carrying significantly more weight than is generally considered healthy for your height."  Now, having said that, if your weight is within normal limits in relation to your height then don't panic.  What is alarming is that there are risks brought about by obesity such as Type 2 diabetes mellitus, heart diseases, stroke and some form of cancer. This is not to scare you but just a matter-of-fact thought to consider.  You may even want to try and visit your GP, ask as many questions about diseases associated with obesity.

These days kids are living in a sedentary lifestyle because of technology like iPad, Nintendo, iPhones, Andoid tablets, computer, etc.  Kids are being inactive.  That's just the kids, how about you as an adult, I bet we're all the same.  We're all stuck with iPad, tablets, iPhones, laptop, Facebook, Youtube, etc. The other thing is diet. We often blame it to fastfood or processed food, but I think the other thing to consider is fruits and vegetables nowadays are commercially produced and full of chemicals and preservatives unlike decades or shall I say millennium years ago where it's totally organic. Yup, we're nodding our heads because we're all guilty.  No use in pointing fingers or blaming Coca-cola, McDonalds, Pizza, Pringles, etc. The choice is within us.

What can we do about it?  First is stay active, eat six times a day, ample amount of exercise either walking or jogging.  By doing this you are increasing your body temperature thus increasing your metabolism.  When you don't eat, don't move or less activity.... your metabolism lowers down and there will be increased fat retention.  The next thing is food supplement.  There are loads of supplements in the market but if you're going to ask me, I have my preferences and that's another story.  You can email me on that matter or leave  comment.  Lastly, emotion or psychological conditioning.  According to research, you gain weight even if you're not eating properly or none at all when you are depressed.  Your body compensate your state of mind. So, stay happy and continue eating regularly in order to stay fit.

I will leave you with these simple lifestyle routine:
1. Ample exercise (like walking, jogging or even house chores or any physical activity)
2. Ample diet (don't skip meals and food supplements are very important)
3. Ample sleep (at least 6-8 hours of well-rested deep sleep)
4. Ample water or hydration (8 glasses of water or juice everyday)
